There are currently three main types of synthetic track surfaces in use.

  • A solid PU track that is resistant to water.

  • Sandwich systems incorporating a solid PU surface over a porous base.

  • A porous PU track which allows water to pass through

For a major national or international track meeting, a solid system will usually be specified, if the budget will not stretch to this then the Sandwich System can be an acceptable alternative.

For Athletic clubs, Schools and Colleges the Porous System is available at a fraction of the cost.

Full Pour System

Full Pour Track System is a multi-layer, spike resistant, impermeable, resilient polyurethane athletic surface.

The recommended thickness is 15mm, (13/16″).

The base layer consists of two layers. Each application consists of 2-component polyurethane and Black Styrene-Butadiene rubber (SBR) granules are broadcast into the self-leveling layer at a thickness of 5mm per base layer.  The top layer consists of a specially formulated, 2-component coloured polyurethane into which Ethylene Propylene Dience Monomer (EPDM) rubber granules have been embedded before curing for a thickness of 3-4mm.

Sandwich System

Sandwich Track System is a two-layer, spike resistant, black impermeable, resilient polyurethane athletic surface.

The total minimum recommended thickness is 13mm, (1/2″).

The base layer consists of Black Styrene-Butadiene rubber (SBR) granules, bound together with a specially formulated, 100% solids MDI based single component polyurethane, at a thickness of 10mm (3/8″). The top layer consists of a specially formulated, colored polyurethane into which Ethylene Propylene Dience Monomer (EPDM) rubber granules have been embedded before curing for a thickness of 3mm (1/8″).

Spray Coat System

Spray Track System is a two-layer, spike resistant, colored, permeable, resilient polyurethane athletic surface.

The total minimum recommended thickness is 13mm (1/2″).

The base layer consists of Black Styrene-Butadiene rubber (SBR) granules, bound together with a specially formulated, 100% solids MDI based single component polyurethane. The top layer consists of a specially formulated, colored polyurethane and colored Ethylene Propylene Dience Monomer (EPDM) rubber granules spray applied.
